Poorly soluble drugs: Softgel lipid based

formulations to maximise oral absorption

The prevalence of poorly water soluble drug candidates has
led to an increasing interest for lipid based formulations, which
has demonstrated their performance to enhance the bioavailability
of BCS Class II and IV drugs. Catalent will describe the mechanistic
rationale, which underpins the use of lipid-based delivery systems
to enhance PWS drug absorption and will present the range of applications.
The second part of this presentation will focus on Catalent's approach to
development, which can efficiently and quickly turn lipid based formulations
into a final dosage form based on Catalent's softgel and Vegicaps® Soft technologies.
Presented by Bruno Cuiné, Sales and Business Development Manager,
Pharmaceutical Softgel, Europe

The impact of recent FDA guidance on ODT Technologies: A Zydis® technology perspective

The 2008 FDA Guidance for Industry on Orally Disintegrating Tablets provides recommendations that
clarify the expectations of the ODT dosage form. The Zydis® lyophilization technology provided the
first US approved ODT in 1996; here we will present the Zydis® technology perspective on how this guidance
may have an impact on the industry.
