Determination Of The Crystalline State Of Ritonavir In Medium Chain Triglyceride Softgel Fill Formulations By X-ray Powder Diffraction

Summary: Compounds known to exhibit polymorphism often pose challenging formulation, reformulation, and manufacturing processes for successful drug product development and commercialization. Formulations of pharmaceutical compounds known to exhibit polymorphism need to not only ensure product efficacy, but also phase stability. The analyses of these formulations pose additional challenges depending on the excipients utilized in the formulations. This study will show that X-ray powder diffraction is capable in determining the crystalline state of ritonavir in a medium chain triglyceride based softgel suspension formulation.
