Taste Masking Using Electronic Tongue In The Pharmaceutical Industry
Summary: Many pharmaceutical active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are inherently bitter to the taste. Studies have shown that the commercial success of a drug product can be strongly influenced by the patient’s perception of the formulation. This is especially true for pediatric and geriatric patient populations for whom orally administered drug products are common. Taste and flavor also play an important role in cancer patient population who commonly experience a loss in their sense of taste due to radiation and chemotherapy drugs.
