Real-Time Micro-Dissolution for Better Formulation Insight
Abstract: This case study highlights Catalent’s advanced fiber-optic micro-dissolution technology developed at its Nottingham site to overcome limitations of traditional HPLC-based dissolution testing. By using small, biorelevant media volumes and real-time UV monitoring, the approach enables continuous tracking of drug dissolution behavior, including dynamic effects like supersaturation and precipitation. Compared to conventional methods, it reduces API consumption, provides more physiologically relevant data, and supports faster, more informed formulation decisions during early drug development.
